I. Review of agenda

III. Activities/Outings – Laura (10:15-10:30am)
A. One activity so far – Canoe Trip is nearly full
B. Joshua Tree camp-out was suggested – free to camp at Lost Horse – only problem is that we can only reserve it one month in advance – possibly April 29-30
C. Tom can take people out to animal sanctuaries – volunteer a few hours in exchange for staying on their sites for the weekend + a couple of meals – sometime in May
D. Tom volunteered to help plan some activities
E. Tram up to San Jacinto was suggested
IV. Newsletter – Jason (10:30-10:45am)
A. Articles
1. Teaching techniques article by Helen
2. Strategic Planning article by Michael
3. This newsletter is going to be dominated by conference info
4. Conf. packet needs to be converted to PDF for Jason
5. Folding party will be Feb. 6th @ Jazz ÔnÕ Java, 1:00pm
6. We may have the strategic plan survey in the summer newsletter
B. Deadlines
1. Goal is to mail Northern (Feb. 7) & Southern (Feb. 15) out as close to same time as possible
2. Summer newsletter out by May 15th, deadline for submissions May 1st, draft to council by May 8th
V. 2005 Fall Conference – Laura (10:45-11:15am)
A. Location
1. Camp Highland would be an excellent place – they want to make it as ÒgreenÓ as possible
2. Possible field trip before/after newspaper folding

1. Nov. 4-6, 2005 = 1st choice; Oct. 21-23rd = 2nd choice
D. Entertainment
1. Blue-grass is always great (hint, hint, Jason)
2. Put a call for entertainment in the newsletter – we want our members to provide the entertainment as much as possible – depending on response, decide whether it would be good for Fri. night or Sat. night

1. Sounded like Zay had to update again for this year for non-profit status
2. Helen attended NAEYC conference – ÒSolterra Books,Ó ÒgentleÓ books for kids – you can sell their books as a fundraiser to you
3. Syracuse Cultural Workers/Tools for Change - sell their merchandise and you keep a % of it
D. NAAEE highlights an affiliate in each

E. GSEEC Update
1. Leadership clinic for youth in August
2. Really excited about AEOE
F. Strategic Planning
1. It has been a long, hard process but this phase is nearly complete
2. Survey needs to go out & include what AEOE can do for them, as well as what they can do for AEOE
G. We need something to promote membership & to get members involved in the organization – Jason suggested a promotional video, Tom suggested going Òdoor to doorÓ talking to people on site, include AEOE in training as staff development – try to get this on the statewide agenda - this would be something done through/ or with the assistance of COSA
