Chair [Section]

The Chair of the section of the Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education will:

1. Oversee entire section operations and functions including all other officer responsibilities.
2. Chair all section Council meetings, which includes planning the agenda and organizing for maximum council participation.
3. *Be a member of the Executive Board and meet at the Spring Conference and other times as needed. (Refer to ARTICLE V - VII)
4. Delegate section responsibilities as appropriate.
5. Share the responsibility with the Chair-elect for the planning and execution of the annual fall conference and the Spring State Conference (when held in the section).
6. Overall responsibility of yearly taxes, budget, newsletter and conferences.
7. Appoint the Secretary or choose to have this position elected by Ballot. (Article VIII, Section K.)
8. Appoint ad hoc committees whenever it is necessary.
9. Prepare an annual report to the Coordinating Secretary (Article VIII, Section N).
10. Not serve more than two consecutive years if reelected. (Article VIII, Section J).
11. Be an active, voting member of the Section Council, lead and participate in discussions, plan and attend section council meetings, and vote on issues.
12. Attend all the section Council meetings. These include the Fall conference and Spring conference, and other meetings as scheduled.

Note:

*Chair of the section hosting the annual statewide spring conference is traditionally elected State President and leads the Executive Board.

Chair is an elected position. The nomination committee shall be charged with the duty of presenting candidates for the office of Chair-elect.

Chair-elect becomes the Chair the following year. All nominees must accept the nomination before being presented for office. The write-in vote of additional candidates is permissible, with the candidates consent. (Article VIII, Section H.)

It is recommended by Article VIII, Section G, that immediate Past Chair and two members in good standing, not on the current Section Council, make up the nominations committee.
