Outings and Adventures Organizer [Section]

The Outings and Adventures Organizers of the sections of the Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education will:

1. Plan and organize regional outings, activities, seminars, etc for AEOE members. Examples of past outings are canoe trips, sea kayaking, birdwatching, cross-country ski/snow play weekends, camping, conservation work weekends on Santa Cruz Island, whale-watching, surfing, hiking, attending special events, and more. Future events could include weekend storytelling retreats, seminars on topics of interest to environmental and outdoor educators (possibly coordinating with other organizations to provide these) such as natural history seminars, primitive skills, ropes courses, outdoor leadership training, science workshops, solar energy, group management, and skills training, to name a few ideas. 2. Coordinate event dates with the other section outings organizer and with the section councils to avoid date conflicts. (We do have people who go to both section outings, but not if they are scheduled for the same weekend)
3. Publicize outings through the section newsletters and website by sending in articles for publication by the appropriate deadlines. Articles should include a title, description of the event, date, time, location, cost, what to bring, what to expect, who to contact for more information, how to sign up or RSVP (if applicable), and that you must be a member to attend. Photos or graphics are helpful, and good writing to encourage attendance. See these guidelines for activity write-ups for more details
4. Make sure the outings get listed in all AEOE calendars (both section newsletters and website), and may publicize them in outside calendars of events as well.
5. Be the contact person (or delegate one) for the activities, for information, for advance registration, etc.
6. Be an active, voting member of the Section Council, participate in discussions, attend section council meetings, and vote on issues.
