2007 AEOE Southern Fall Camp-out Conference

General Information

• Date and Place: October 19-21, 2007; The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre
• Cost: $25 pre-registration, including workshops, entertainment, camping, if registered by 10/13/07, $35 walk-in rate. Family rates: $10 per child - children 5 and under free, note- please be aware of Rattlesnakes, Mountain Lions, Coyotes and Bears (oh my!)
• Getting There: Carpooling is encouraged - parking is limited. Click here for an online ride share forum if you can offer a ride to others, or if you need to find a ride. Directions and map to conference below.

• Entertainment: friends, music, campfire, drum circle, more TBA!
• Bring: Camping gear, water, firewood, and food/cooking gear for meals plus a little extra to share for the Saturday potluck dinner, plate, cup and silverware, naturalist gear (binoculars and bird books!), notebook and pencil for workshops, Crazy Creek chairs are a good idea, instruments, journals to share, songs to share, your enthusiasm for a new year of teaching!
• Interested in helping? Volunteers Needed: Let us know if you can help in any of the following ways: Help organize/set up Saturday potluck dinner; Use your vehicle for carpooling/caravaning to some workshops; Present a workshop (Presenters' conference fee waived); Registration/Sign people in; Post conference clean up; Attend Sunday board meeting; Other? Things to bring:

• Camping Gear: sleeping bag, pad, tent or groundsheet, food, utensils and cooking gear
• Musical Instruments / Toys (Frisbees, Hacky-Sacks, etc)
• Naturalist Gear (guidebooks, binoculars, etc - if you have a telescope for stargazing, bring that, too!)
• Chair(s) (those Crazy Creek chairs sure are nice in workshops!)
• Yoga Mat for Yoga Workshop!
• Notebook/Journal and writing/drawing implements
• Ideas to share!

7 am – birding, yoga, etc
8:30 am – welcome & intro
9:00-10:30 am – Workshop Session 1
10:45 am-12:15 pm – Workshop Session 2
12:15-2 pm – lunch
2-3:30 pm – Workshop Session 3
3:30-5 pm – free time
5:15 pm – Thai Dinner
8:00 pm – entertainment & campfire
10 pm - 6 am - Campground Quiet Hours

• Sunday

7am – birding, yoga, etc
8am – breakfast board meeting
9:15-10:45am – Workshop Session 4
11:00am – closing

Directions FROM NORTH: Exit 101 to 154 South (towards Lake Cachuma). After Lake Cachuma entrance continue for approximately 1 mile. Turn right into the second driveway (the first has a Rancho Alegre sign but it is not the main entrance). The second driveway is immediately following the blind corner – slow down as you round corner (there will be Rancho Alegre and The Outdoor School signs). FROM SOUTH: Exit 101 at State Street/ 154 exit. Proceed on 154 for approximately 20 miles. On the right look for callbox #154-163. At callbox #154-163 slow down and turn left into property (there will be Rancho Alegre and The Outdoor School signs).
