for a presenter packet. Presenters will receive a 25% discount on conference registration fees per session offered and an additional 5% per session for applying by January 12.

Topics: We are calling for workshop topics which support the theme of this conference. Lifelong environmental education means that students receive direct experiences with nature and with their human communities at every grade level. Place-based education means that students develop a personal connection and relationship with the earth and that experiences can be taken back home to develop a respectful and knowledgable stewardship of the earth. We also encourage workshops which take advantage of the redwood and tidepool ecosystems and local community resources. Suggested topics for workshops include natural history, teaching methods, hands-on activities/games, naturalist/science skills, educational theory, career/ educational paths for environmental educators, program development, music, outdoor &classroom/indoor curricula, science standards, reflective writing, group management, storytelling, stress management, and anything else pertinent to our field. The workshop coordinator reviews all workshop presenter applications, and nearly all are accepted in original or slightly modified format. We appreciate that you are sharing knowledge, skills, and passion with our members.

Discounts and Benefits: AEOE does not offer payment to workshop presenters except for a few nationally prominent workshops. It does however, offer a discount on conference registration fees of 25% per workshop session offered. Though you may choose to be present at the conference only during your workshop and to not register, you are strongly encouraged to register for the conference. Our insurance requires that you become a member of AEOE. We think that you will find full participation in the conference, including taking workshops yourself, will be of tremendous value to you professionally in exposing you to new ideas and allowing you to network and socialize with a wide variety of environmental educators. When you register (registration packets are available starting in late January), you will enter the workshop session(s) you are offering and take the appropriate discount. Those whose workshop application is received by January 12 will receive an additional 5% discount per workshop session offered. One discount is offered per workshop session; if there are multiple presenters, they may divide the discount in any way they wish. No discount is offered to presenters who register on-site at the conference. Conference registrattion fees will be $110 for early registration and will increase for regular and on-site registration.
