AEOE 2005 Statewide Spring Conference:

"California's People and Places"

Entertainment: Buckeye Flatts

Saturday Night Band:
Buckeye Flatts

Bluegrass, mountain music.

These words describe The Buckeye Flatts. Hard driving, traditional bluegrass is their specialty, playing the songs of Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Buck Owens, The Stanley Brothers and many more. They also write their own brand of Hardcore Bluegrass that fans love. With two and three part harmonies, their stage presence is relaxed, yet filled with energy. The good times always seem to follow this tight and powerful band.

The Buckeye Flatts were born out of Friday night jams at The Riverview Lounge in Three Rivers California. Tim Chansler and Chris Miles would show up every Friday night and play for tips during happy hour. It wasn’t long before the word got out and the place was packed every Friday night. Word also circulated down to Visalia and caught the ears of Billy and Erica Moore who had recently moved back into town and were looking for picking partners. One Friday evening it all clicked and The Buckeye Flatts were born.

This band has embraced traditional bluegrass, playing through just one microphone in the style of the bluegrass bands of the 1940’s and 50’s. High and lonesome singing adds a dimension to this young band that has fans dancing and singing long after their first experience with The Flatts.
