General Information

• Date and Place: April 25-27, 2008 at the beautiful Camp Hess Kramer/Steve Breuer Conference Center in Malibu - click here for photos and information from the outdoor school that uses this lovely campus, click here for the official Hess Kramer website

• Registration: Click Here for the Register Packet! Sorry, the pre-registration deadline has passed. Please do NOT mail anymore registrations, this packet is for information only or to bring for walk-in registration.

• Cost
  • Refund policy: Full refunds if requested by early registration deadline of March 29, 2008, 50% refunds if by regular registration deadline of April 12, 2008, and NO refunds after April 12, 2008.
  • Walk In Registration: $195 for the entire conference or $130 for day use only

• Job Fair
  • The Job Fair will be taking place on Saturday night from 6:15 till 7:15. It will be in a central location amidst the hustle and bustle of the conference. In the same area there will be a tea and coffee station, the silent auction and other happenings. Attendance this year expected to be approximately 400 people. This includes naturalists and educators from both Northern and Southern California. So if you are thinking about finding a few good people for your next season or school year this would be an excellent place to make that happen!
    
  • All you need to do is bring a display board to help prospective applicants get an idea of what your work site is like and the programs that run there. As well as a job description and contact information. There will also need to be someone representing your work site at the job fair from 6:00-7:15 the night of the event. Please contact Coleen Ryan via email if you wish to participate at ryancoleen@gmail.com.
• Photo Contest: It's once again time for the Annual AEOE Photography Contest! Bring your labeled prints to the registration table by Saturday 11 am to enter. The theme of this conference is "UNLESS". We hope that it will inspire people to take personal action towards a more positive and sustainable world. Choose photos that convey the theme literally or figuratively. Submit up to 3 entries, size 8x10 to 11x14inches. Judging will be held at 1pm Saturday and great prizes will be awarded at the closing ceremony. For more information contact Coleen Ryan (AEOE not responsible for lost or damaged photographs)

• Pre-Conference: Diversity and EE Workshop Jack Shu is an independent consultant specializing in cultural diversity.  He has more than 30 years of experience working as a presenter, educator and administrator in the field of environmental education. (requires separate registration)

• Opening Ceremony: with Jacque Nuñez, Acjachemen Storyteller
• Keynote Speaker: Lynne Cherry, Award-winning children’s nature book author of The Great Kapok Tree, A River Ran Wild, and Flute’s Journey
• Entertainment: Mojow and the Vibration Army “using art and positivity as a way to make the world a better place"
• Closing Ceremony Speaker: Roger Bell, Trailbuilder and son of AEOE Co-Founder Howard Bell

  • 203 Basket Weaving –Jacque Nuñez– Journeys to the Past. Jacque, a Southern Californian Indian from the Acjachemen Nation (Juaneno/Mission Indians) from San Juan Capistrano, will share about the indigenous plants used for ancient baskets and what they were used for. Using some of those materials, participants will have fun learning how to make a round reed basket. (Fee Workshop – Space still available sign up at registration)
    
  • 308 Learning With Lynne Cherry - Lynne Cherry – Keynote Speaker. Meet the Author! Following the Keynote Address stay with Lynne and have a discussion about her most recent book, upcoming tour, and being a children’s author.
