Watershed Science Program Naturalist
Program Description:
The purpose of the Watershed Science Program is to build on classroom curriculum, in a field setting, with a
focus on
watershed education.
We will study what a watershed is, what affects it, and what critters live in the watershed, including the
salmon, and
steelhead populations, what they eat, and what affects their
life in our local watersheds.
Job Description:
Naturalists will conduct a three day program focused on watersheds, at three different field sites. Two teams of 5
naturalists will be responsible for facilitating the Acorn
Soupe WSP curriculum, both in a large group and in small trail groups. Training will be
provided covering site logistics, watershed-science
curriculum, group management techniques and natural history related to the
theme.
Naturalists must be
able to commit to the 3 day training, April 16-18th, and 3 day
program, May 23-25th.
Requirements:
- Experience
working with 5th-8th grade students
- Some
science back-ground, or at least you like science
- Natural
History knowledge of the Bay Area
- Ability
to work in a team
- Current
first aid, and CPR
- Transportation
to all three sites
- Clean
record from fingerprint live scan with California Dept of Justice and FBI
- Ability
to establish positive and professional rapport with students, teachers,
parents and staff
- Flexibility
and a sense of humor is a necessity
