Alliance Redwoods Conference Grounds is located in Sonoma County, California 60 miles north of San Francisco near the coast among redwood-covered mountains. Naturalists are trained to lead 5th and 6th grade children in nature and ecology through 5 classes. Beyond the normal activities, Naturalists get to participate in a large variety of evening activities including night hikes, games, and campfires. Trips to the ocean allow for offsite environmental instructing and also onsite activities like facilitating challenge courses including ropes, mountain bikes, dirt boarding, climbing walls, archery, kayaking, and canoeing on a regular basis. Offsite adventure camping involving hiking, rafting, archery, and initiatives will occur during summer months. Additional responsibilities are given depending on the time of year. Each naturalist is empowered to develop new material for activities that support the concepts of the program. On the job training and participation in workshops with other Naturalists expand the teaching experience. This is a ten-month commitment starting in February and ending in November.
Alliance Redwoods Conference Grounds is a nonprofit Christian organization and is looking for well rounded individuals with a B.A or B.S. degree who are energetic, child oriented, eager to learn, and have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Experience in camps or youth activities is a plus. Lifeguard and First Aid certification is a plus as well.
The starting salary is $260. Onsite housing and meals are provided.
