Program Description: The American River Conservancy conducts conservation, education, and stewardship programs to protect and enhance native fisheries, vanishing plant and animal communities, scenic vistas, cultural heritage and recreational lands within the American and Cosumnes River watersheds which lie in the foothills of the eastern Sacramento Valley. Based in Coloma, California, in the historical Kane House at the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, we have a wonderful natural history exhibit and conduct environmental education programs on-site.

Job Description: The Environmental Education Director will oversee education programs for the American River Conservancy, managing school programs, summer camps, trainings and public programs for adults. The position includes development, promotion, fundraising and presentation of programs.

Job Duration: Year Round
Job Status: Full-Time, Permanent

Qualifications:

  1. Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with groups of children in both classroom and outdoor settings. Naturalist experience w/ knowledge of a range of outdoor education activities.
  2. Must have good understanding of ecological concepts, the science used to study them and a working knowledge of local natural history.
  3. Ability to work with diverse students and age levels.
  4. Skill in working collaboratively with others.
  5. Must have experience managing personnel and overseeing programs.

Salary: $40,000/year
