Summer Environmental Education
Internship
Program Description: The Audubon Center at Debs Park, in Northeast Los Angeles,
is developing a cutting-edge urban conservation model that takes a place-based,
whole communities approach. Audubon’s outreach, education and conservation
programs are evolving to reflect the intersection of the communities and cultures
surrounding the Center, their fundamental needs and relevant environmental
issues.
Program Type: Non-Residential
Job Description: Join us this summer as we connect local kids to nature and
inspire the next generation of environmental leaders in East LA! As part of
the Audubon Center’s 2008 Summer Day Camp Program, Interns will work
closely with the Center’s naturalists and children ages 6-16 from Highland
Park, Lincoln Heights, El Sereno and neighboring communities. As an Intern,
you will gain first hand experience teaching, developing curriculum and working
as part of a dynamic education team. Build your inter-personal and interpretive
skills, and make your natural history studies come alive as you guide young
campers as they explore the urban streams, hills and forests of Debs Park and
the Arroyo Seco.
