Job Description: General Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Recreation
Coordinator and/or Recreation Supervisor, the Day Camp Coordinator is responsible
for the management and organization of the Angel Island Day Camp program and
staff. The Angel Island Day Camp program is an outdoor adventure camp that
includes orienteering, kayaking, mountain biking, survival science and the
discovery of the natural environment through games and activities.
Specific Responsibilities:
Coordinate the organization, staffing and operational activities
for the assigned day camp program located on Angel Island.
Supervise and direct a staff of paid and volunteer workers.
Oversee the development and implementation of an age appropriate,
environmental education day camp curriculum and evaluate the program curriculum
as needed to maintain proper balance of activity.
Maintain program records and complete reports concerning the daily
management of the program, staff and campers.
Participate in the administration of the assigned program budget
including maintaining accurate records of petty cash purchases and purchasing
additional program supplies and snack as needed.
Communicate/collaborate effectively with parents and community based
organizations to provide high quality day camp services and address issues
in a timely manner.
Assist in the training and professional development of personnel
assigned to the day camp program.
Provide weekly schedules of personnel assignments including conducting
weekly staff meetings.
Evaluate the performance of personnel and conduct weekly staff meetings.
Inspect and maintain all equipment/facilities used and insure its’ proper
use and the safety of those using it.
Support and uphold recreation department policies and procedures
including enforcing safety rules and submitting accident/incident reports
as required.
Lead transitions, make announcements, establish rules and boundaries
to insure a well-run and safe operation.

Qualifications:
Completion of at least 2 years of college course
work.
At least three years of increasingly responsible experience in a
day/residential camp program.
Valid California Driver’s License.
Possession of, or ability to obtain certification in CPR and First
Aid.
Salary: $14-$16/hour
