Naturalist Intern

Program Description: The Big Bear Discovery Center is the premier visitor center for the San Bernardino National Forest. Services include recreation information, as well as educational programs.

Job Description: The Big Bear Discovery Center is seeking a Naturalist Intern to work the summer season of 2006. The Intern will be responsible for working with the public, assisting in educational programs, and leading educational/recreational tours. Some of out programs include: canoe and hiking tours, map and compass, animal tracking, gold panning, and more. This position will require working with the public daily.

Hours: Full time
Program Type: Non-Residential

Qualifications:

• Must be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited University or College
• Ability to work with a large volunteer group
• Comfortable working with the public
• Capable of working alone and cooperatively with others
• Must have reliable transportation to Big Bear Lake
  

Salary: $3,000/year
Comments: We will assist in finding Intern appropriate housing if necessary.
