Sales Manager

Description
The Sales Manager markets and sells Boojum’s acclaimed outdoor education and team-building programs to new and returning schools, youth organizations, corporations and other groups.  Building on our 33-year record of quality experiential education offerings, the Sales Manager cultivates relationships with prospective clients, strengthens existing client relationships, leads sales and marketing activities, and works with other Senior Management Team members to deliver and improve Boojum’s outdoor education courses.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients; guide group representatives through the enrollment process
  2. Sell participation in Boojum programs, meeting organizational sales revenue and expense targets
  3. Develop, maintain and track progress on Boojum’s annual Marketing Plan, including promotion activities, market segmentation, and sales metrics
  4. Conduct direct mail, trade show exhibit, telephone, in-person and email-based outreach activities
  5. Oversee and improve Boojum’s web site
  6. Work with the Client Outreach Committee of the Board of Directors to drive sales goals throughout the organization
  7. Develop and distribute written sales materials, including letters, newsletters, brochures, press releases and publications
  8. Manage Sales budget
  9. Collaborate with Directors of Education and Program to develop and improve Boojum’s course offerings and improve brand image

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  2. Minimum three years successful sales/marketing experience with responsibility for meeting sales targets and achieving organizational growth goals
  3. Skills in building personalized relationships with prospective clients
  4. High degree of organizational skills; impeccable attention to detail
  5. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  6. Outstanding interpersonal skills; team player
  7. Ability to communicate about and build enthusiasm for Boojum’s environmental education, group development and adventure education programming
  8. Ability to successfully multi-task and work independently; computer literacy

The Boojum Institute for Experiential Education offers outdoor programs that provide personal growth, group development and environmental education experiences in a variety of wilderness and outdoor settings. Participants on Boojum programs are challenged to develop personal skills in leadership, communication, team building and self confidence through facilitated adventure experiences. Participants explore the natural world through hands-on investigation and develop skills for responsible and sustainable environmental behavior.  

Boojum offers three types of programs: experiential outdoor education courses for public and independent school students, leadership and organizational development programs, and Adventure Challenge Programs for urban and rural youth at-risk populations.

Since Boojum’s founding in 1975, over 80,000 individuals have participated in its base camp, rock climbing, Challenge Course, canoeing, sea kayaking, and backpacking programs in locations such as Joshua Tree National Park, Point Reyes National Seashore, Yosemite National Park, Colorado River and Lake Mead, and the Sierra Nevada, San Bernardino, Santa Cruz and San Jacinto Mountains. The non-profit Boojum Institute is based in Anza, CA.
