Program Educator

Coyote Point Museum for Environmental Education’s mission is, “To educate and inspire people to take care of our earth wisely.” An Environmental & Science Educator delivers environmental education and science in a way that is engaging, based on observation and inquiry, includes art, and teaches not “what” to think, but “how” to think. An Environmental & Science Educator works with other Education Department staff on curriculum and program development for school services, public programs, exhibits, and other environmental education events and activities. They maintain supplies and materials for programs, occasionally supervise volunteers, and assist with other projects or programs within the Education Department or Coyote Point Museum.

Qualifications:

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university major in environmental studies, physical or natural sciences, education or related fields is required. Work experience may be substituted for education.
    
• Experience:
  • Two years experience developing and delivering programs to youth in a school, camp, and/or informal learning center.
    
  • Experience teaching outdoor or environmental education, working with at-risk student populations, and/or
    
  • Bilingual ability in English/Spanish and multi-cultural familiarity are highly desirable.
    
• Special Requirements:
  • Possession of valid Class “C” California Driver’s License or ability to obtain one before hire, and satisfactory driving history.
    
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (child and adult) or willingness to obtain certification at the Museum’s expense.
    
  • Department of Justice fingerprinting clearance at Museum expense.

Salary: $14-$18/hour
