
Recreation Leaders III and IV
Program Description: The East Bay Regional Park District is seeking to fill
several Recreation Leader vacancies. These seasonal positions are also known
as Summer Camp Staff and Activity Leaders. Work is scheduled to begin in April
and continue through August.
Job Description:
- Under supervision the Recreation Leader III plans, directs,
and leads outdoor recreation programs including day camps, special events,
and other activities. Performs record keeping and other work as required.
- Under supervision, the Recreation Leader IV assists in the coordination
and implementation of a comprehensive offering of regional recreational and
volunteer opportunities, special events, tours, and skills training at one
of the District’s
recreation facilities.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Temporary work is paid by the hour and includes no other benefits. The Recreation
Leader seasonal positions are for not more than six months in duration. Work
hours are flexible; work schedules may be full or part-time. The Recreation
Leader positions will be required to work some weekends and evening hours.
A valid California driver's license and current certification in First Aid
and CPR are conditions of initial and continued employment for Recreation
Leader III and IV.

Qualifications:
- Recreation Leader III: Completion of 18 semester or 24 quarter
units of college-level course work in recreation, social work, human development,
or related fields, and one season of recent experience in a leadership capacity
over recreation leaders or counselors, involving independently planning and
coordinating outdoor recreation activities, group camps or other special
events. Substitution: Additional college-level courses related to the duties
and responsibilities may be substituted on the following basis: 24 semester
or 32 quarter units of college-level course work in recreation, social work,
human development or related fields fully meet the minimum qualifications
requirements. Additional experience directing outdoor recreational activities
may be substituted for the education requirement as follows: Completion of
two full seasons of recent experience in a leadership capacity fully meets
the education and experience requirements. Pay Rate: $14.83 - $15.15 per
hour
- Recreation Leader IV: Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units of
college-level course work with an emphasis in recreation or a related field
and six months of experience supporting, administering, planning, or delivering
recreational activities. Pay Rate: $18.35 - $18.76 per hour
