AmeriCorps Member/Community Recycling Crew Driver

Description : Make a difference in your community! Join our Community Recycling Crew and become an AmeriCorps member/ Community Recycling Crew Driver. Provide recycling services, training, education and support to Marin's national, state, county parks and open spaces. Recyclables are collected from over 200 park sites, non-profit organizations and other recreational lands throughout the county. Our recycling program also supplies recycling services to several large-scale public events and fairs, and conducts outreach and education to the community's residents and businesses.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Collect recyclables from parklands and recreational areas throughout Marin County, including driving to location and sorting of materials
· Supervise corpsmembers while on recycling route
· Maintain program by interacting with park personnel, tracking materials collected, inventories and purchase of needed supplies, and other activities as required
· Design, organize and staff public education booths at fairs and public events, including discussions of recycling and natural resource conservation with public
· Work as a team member to: design and manage local recycling contests and incentive programs; provide informational and technical support to businesses and residents in the form of; waste-audits'; and training on improving recycling systems; design, construct, and place new recycling bins in parklands throughout Marin County.

Qualifications : Required Qualifications:
§ United States citizens, nationals, or legal permanent aliens
§ Between the ages of 18 and 30
§ CDL for at least one year with driving record with no more than 1 point.
§ A one-year commitment to participation in a career development and job-training program

Desired Qualifications:
§ Commitment to learning about conservation issues, recycling, waste reduction and environmental stewardship
§ Ability to initiate, organize, and complete projects with minimal supervision
§ Willingness to work with other team members; Desire to work with diverse people
§ Willingness to develop communication, training, leadership, and computer skills
