Community Recycling Crew Supervisor
Description : The Marin Conservation Corps; mission is to develop the youth of Marin County by providing meaningful employment, education and training opportunities through projects that conserve natural resources, deliver human services and respond to public emergencies.
The Community Recycling Crew (CRC) Supervisor works directly under the Recycling Coordinator and provides daily supervision of 6-10 corpsmembers implementing a wide-range of recycling services for the community. The CRC supervisor is responsible for coordination of a moderate scale recycling collection program, including special events; a bin construction program; and business waste consulting projects. Also, the CRC Supervisor will provide continual guidance and mentorship to corpsmembers in the areas of personal and academic development, professionalism, environmental ethics, recycling and waste management issues, and interacting with the public. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervision:
Provide daily supervision of 6-10 corpsmembers including enforcing program policies, organize work schedules for the daily CRC projects, evaluate performance, facilitate personal and professional development and complete daily paperwork;
Provide coverage for absent corpsmembers on projects when needed;
Develop and administer a CRC corpsmember project specific training program and track corpsmember progress;
Ensure that all safety procedures are followed.
Program Development:
Solicit, plan and prepare for special events and supervise corpsmembers during special events;
Establish and maintain new and existing contacts with program clients and community members;
Implement waste consulting projects for new and existing clients and train corpsmembers to administer waste consulting projects;
Work with other program staff to develop project goals, objectives and program-specific trainings.
Administration:
Oversee tracking systems for recycling collections, grant objectives and corpsmember hours;
Compile data and submit monthly status reports to Recycling Coordinator;
Represent program and organization at a variety of meetings and public forums.

Ability to supervise and motivate young adults from a wide variety of social, economic and educational backgrounds, enrolled in a job-training program;
Experience safely operating shop tools and possess basic carpentry skills;
Strong organizational skills, ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and experience with MS Office software, including ability to track and aggregate data;
Clean DMV record, with ability to earn a Class B driver's license within 2 months of hire;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Effective conflict resolution skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
College level coursework in Humanities and Sciences, especially focused on environmental issues;
Understanding of recycling, waste management and conservation, and experience articulating these issues to a diverse audience;
Experience supervising youth from a wide variety of social, economic and educational backgrounds to work together as a team;
Experience serving and volunteering in the community. Must possess a strong service ethic and be able to instill this ethic into team members.
