Team Supervisor
MARIN CONSERVATION CORPS (MCC)

Project ReGeneration is MCC's summer service learning and environmental education program for youth aged 11-17. The program consists of two, four-week sessions engaging youth in recycling, habitat restoration and community service projects throughout Marin. Project ReGeneration is unique among summer youth programs in that participants engage in service projects and receive a stipend for their efforts. Formal education, hands-on learning, team-building, and recreational activities are central to the program.

Project ReGeneration Team Supervisor(s)
The program will operate with five supervisors, leading teams of 10 members during the summer of 2003. Members are grouped into High School (grades 9 to 12) and Junior High School (grades 6 to 8) teams. Project ReGeneration Team Supervisors work under the direction of MCC's Youth and Environment Programs Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide daily supervision of 10 ReGen members, aged 11-14 or 14-17;

Ensure a safe environment by enforcing program rules and making certain all safety procedures are followed at all times;

Oversee and lead the environmental education program including, science education in the field and leading group discussions;

Plan and coordinate daily team logistics including driving a 12-passenger van to the work site, gathering materials and outlining the daily and weekly work plans with sponsoring agencies; track and compile project accomplishment data;

Provide guidance and mentorship to ReGen members in the areas of personal and academic development, community service ethics, professionalism, environmental ethics, recycling issues, and public relations;

Maintain daily tracking of ReGen member accomplishments and attendance; evaluating participation and facilitating personal development;

Provide mentorship and guidance to one of MCC’s Environmental Education Crew AmeriCorps Members who aid in the facilitation of the environmental education program and supervision of team members.

Compensation: This is a full-time, temporary position that offers a competitive salary dependent upon experience. This period includes two weeks of intensive training and one day of evaluations.

Qualifications : Required Qualifications:
Must be available for training from (June 16 to 27); for the duration of the program (June 30 to August 22); and evaluation day (August 25);

Must have a clean DMV record (one point or less) and California Driver's License;

Willing to submit to fingerprints for background check;

Experience teaching or facilitating education to youth in an outdoor setting;

Experience supervising youth from a wide variety of social, economic and educational backgrounds to work together as a team on service projects;

Experience serving and volunteering in the community. Must possess a strong service ethic and be able to instill this ethic into team members.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience using hand tools and gardening tools;

Experience conducting habitat and watershed restoration projects. Familiarity with environmental issues, particularly with recycling and resource conservation concepts;

Effective conflict resolution skills.
