Naturalist Intern

Program Description: Cuyamaca and Fox Outdoor Schools are ROSS certified resident outdoor schools located in the mountains east of San Diego. Work with one of the premier resident outdoor school programs for 6th grade students in California. There are two school sites (Cuyamaca and Fox) operated by the San Diego County Office of Education. Both are located in the beautiful, sunny mountains east of San Diego.

Description: Upon completion of training, interns will be expected to be able to perform duties assigned to the Outdoor Education Program Specialist and will substitute for absent Program Specialists as needed. When not substituting for absent Program Specialists, Interns will perform a variety of duties assigned. Examples of duties are: instructing classes; leading or assisting with evening programs; providing additional overnight supervision of students; assisting with support duties in the office, kitchen or maintenance area; supervising recess; dining hall duties; observing or assisting with classes or adventure hikes. All interns will be expected to develop a special project designed to improve or enhance some phase of the Outdoor Education Program.

Qualifications:

Salary: $8.00 per hour
Benefits: Room (7 days) and meals (M-F)
Housing: Housing will be offered seven (7) days per week to Interns during their internship period, during the Outdoor School program year.
Board: Meals will be provided only when the Outdoor School program is in session.
