It has been a practice for members of AEOE to renew their memberships when they attend the next conference, and to let their membership lapse if they do not attend a conference. This is understandable - environmental educators move a lot, and are busy, and many have low incomes. But we would really like you to renew before your membership expires and maintain your continuous membership with AEOE.
Most environmental organizations have membership dues ranging from $25 to $50, and most professional organizations have membership dues ranging from $35 to $120. At only $20, membership in AEOE is a great deal. You of course get to attend our wonderful conferences and activities which require membership to attend, and you get four in-depth newsletters a year. Even more important than what you get, however, is what you support. AEOE is the recognized leader in environmental education in California and now has prominence worldwide. Many people working in environmental education have found their job through the AEOE Joblist. AEOE is now involved as a partner with eight other environmental organizations in California and nationally. As a volunteer organization, we are honored by the estimated 7000 hours of volunteer support we receive every year, but there are real costs to running the organization and providing membership benefits, such as insurance, legal fees for non-profit status, paper, postage and copying costs for the newsletters, and other costs you may not think about. That's why we really want you to renew your membership!
You may even want to become a life member of AEOE. At $200, life membership is not only a deal, it's a steal. Most organizations have life membership dues of $500 to $2000. And you never have to renew again!

If you joined to attend a conference, then your membership expires just before the next conference a year later. For example, if you joined or renewed to attend the last Spring Conference, you will need to renew in order to attend the next Spring statewide conference.
