• 1 (Mon) Holiday - Labor Day
• 11-12 (Thurs-Fri) Greentools Conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento offering a host of training opportunities, the conference will feature topics and strategies aimed at a variety of stakeholders, from design professionals to facilities planners to school district officials. This year's conference will feature nationally recognized speakers, a suite of workshops, an awards program, a tour of one of the newest schools built to CHPS Criteria, and professionally-led design charrettes for school districts.

• 20 (Sat) - October 11 Coastweeks: Each fall, people all over the United States participate in COASTWEEKS, a three week celebration of our coastal resources that begins on the third Saturday in September. The kick off for the celebration is Coastal Cleanup Day, when tens of thousands of Californians come together across the state to keep our coasts and inland waterways free of debris.

• 24-25 (Wed-Thur) National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Risk Management Training in Bend, Oregon. Does your program have a crisis plan, and is everyone familiar with your crisis plan? Whether your program is small or large, wilderness-based or study abroad, you have a responsibility to your staff and participants to invest in risk management planning. The two-day NOLS Risk Management Training provides an excellent opportunity to develop a personalized action plan that will enhance your risk management practices organizationally and professionally.
• 25-27 (Thurs-Sat) West Coast Green The largest conference and expo dedicated to green building, design and technology is coming to the San Jose Convention Center.  See presentations from 200 of the leading minds and innovators including 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Winner Al Gore.
• 27 (Sat) National Public Lands Day - National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands American’s enjoy. National Public Lands Day provides an opportunity for volunteers to roll up their sleeves and build sweat-equity in America’s backyard—our public lands. We encourage all environmental educators to participate on public lands from the federal level to the state and city level.

• 8 (Sat) Free Orientation & Tour of the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center Attend our free orientation and tour where you will learn how to plan your own low-cost 3- or 5-day residential program at the Clem Miller Environmental Education Center. Take a guided tour of cabins, the main lodge, and grounds. See demonstrations of environmental education activities that engage students. Learn about available teaching resources at the Center and in the Park. This orientation and tour is suggested – but not required – for teachers before planning a class trip to the Education Center.

• 7-8 (Sat-Sun) Wild in the Wilderness: Adventures in Environmental Education at the Clem Miller Ed Center Participate in hands-on activities, discovery methods, and thought-provoking games that illustrate a variety of science and ecological concepts while fulfilling some of the California State Science standards. Learn how to adapt these activities to your lessons and become familiar with the teaching spots around the Center. Leave the weekend energized and full of environmental education ideas that you can take back to the classroom. Accommodations at the Center are required. 1.5 units of continuing education credit are available through Dominican University. This weekend-long workshop is FREE for teachers whose school is already scheduled at the Education Center, otherwise $75 for members of the Point Reyes National Seashore Association and $80 for non-members.
