Come live, work, and grow in the beautiful Redwood forest of California’s Central Coast. Camp Campbell Outdoor Science School at YMCA of the Redwoods is looking for enthusiastic candidates to join our residential and recreation focused team as Youth Program Specialists. Under direction of the Youth Program Specialist Coordinator, this seasonal, residential position works with all youth programs to provide quality experiences. These programs include our 5th and 6th grade Outdoor Science School, our specialized family camps, our after school enrichment programs, and many more. Youth Program Specialists will be involved in the daily and/or overnight supervision and education for all camp run residential programs. This position is designed for individuals who are interested in exploring the field of Youth Development and who are excited by dynamic and evolving job duties. The Youth Program Specialist position is a perfect starting place for individuals looking to explore different ways to work with youth and communities. his position is seasonal from August-June, with the opportunity for continued summer employment. The Youth Program Specialists are provided with rustic housing at the camp in Boulder Creek, for the times when they are not in cabins during science school program. Youth Program Specialists will also be trained in our ropes courses, as lifeguards, and other areas of camp operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or GED, and minimum age of 18.
Model the values of the YMCA of Silicon Valley and the individual worth of children.
CPR and First Aid certified (can be obtained upon hire)
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, teachers, and parents from diverse backgrounds.
Must have good decision making skills, and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
Experience planning and facilitating large group programming.
Must have general knowledge of needs and behavior of school age children.
Ability and willingness to become a lifeguard is preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish/English is preferred.
Proof of medical/TB exam completed within 3 days of hire.

Compensation Information:

Youth Program Specialists will be provided on site housing, meals when in program, and a weekly rate of $510.00 USD.
