    Cuyamaca Outdoor School - An hour east of San Diego in the 25,000-acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, elevation 4,000 feet.

    Position Details: 

    The San Diego County Office of Education is seeking individuals to join our team as Outdoor Education Intern for the 2021-22 season at the original 6th Grade Camp, Cuyamaca Outdoor School. The residential outdoor education program, in operation since 1946, is located an hour east of San Diego in the 25,000-acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, elevation 4,000 feet. We connect children to science through nature in a weeklong, hands-on outdoor education experience. Our program specialists are outgoing, hard-working, energetic, and have a genuine desire to make a positive difference in children’s lives.


    ·         Knowledge of natural and environmental sciences

    ·         Works effectively with students and adults in small and large group settings

    ·         Experience working in a residential outdoor education or recreation program with school-age children

    ·         Has a passion for teaching in and about the natural world

    ·         Demonstrates a positive attitude, adaptable personality, strong work ethic, and likes to have fun

    ·         Completion of college-level course work in natural sciences or other related topics


    October 1, 2021 start date; $14.00 starting hourly rate. Upon successful completion of internship, rate of pay is raised to $20.94 from February through June as a limited term employee. Overnight and weekend housing, meals (when school is in session), paid training, worker’s compensation, AEOE conference, paid time to visit another environmental education program, live and work in the beautiful 25,000 acres of the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park with other awesome educators!
