    The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Lead Outdoor Education Specialist at Camp Cuyamaca for the Outdoor Education School within the Student Services and Programs Division. The Lead Outdoor Education Specialist assists in implementing learning and recreational activities Cuyamaca Outdoor School, as well as providing technical direction and assistance to Outdoor Education Specialists.

    Cuyamaca Outdoor School is located in the remote mountain areas of San Diego County. Must be available to work varying assignments in the 24-hour residential school schedule.

    This position is a permanent, 10 month, 180 day assignment and will offer the classified benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, and will participate in the CalPERS state retirement system.

    Requirements / Qualifications

    This position requires a combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to completion of college-level coursework in the natural sciences, recreation, education, or other related topics, and two (2) years of work experience in outdoor education.

    Certificates and Licenses:

    • Possession of an American Red Cross CPR and First Aid/AED certificate is required within 30 days of appointment.

    Position Details:

    $23.85 - $30.45 hourly rate, plus a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, sick leave, pension, and more; 180 days, 10-month work calendar; meals provided during program; on-site housing available.
