We invite you to share your perspective on the vital role of environmental education in shaping a sustainable future. In this contest, we want to hear from YOU—our community members—about the impact that environmental education has on individuals, communities, and the planet.
Whether you’re an educator, student, advocate, or a passionate nature enthusiast, your voice matters!
2025 Contest Theme: "What is the value of environmental education?"
CONTEST GUIDELINES
In your video, explore the importance of environmental education. Share how it has influenced you personally or in your work, the communities you serve, or the broader global environment. Highlight specific examples, experiences, or lessons learned from environmental education.
Eligibility:
- Open to anyone within the environmental education or outdoor education sector in California.
Video Requirements:
- Length: 1-3 minutes.
- Format: Record videos in portrait orientation. Video submissions must be in a widely accessible format (MP4, MOV, etc).
- Content:

- Your video should speak directly to the theme: "What is the value of environmental education?"
- Share your story, experiences, or insights related to environmental education’s impact.
- Be creative! Use visuals, storytelling, or examples to illustrate the transformative power of environmental education.
- Ensure your content is appropriate for a broad audience.
- Videos must be your original work.
How to Submit:
- Record your Video: Make sure your video has clear audio and visual quality. Please make sure the video is in portrait format.
- Complete the Submission Form: Include your name, a brief description of your video, and any relevant context or inspiration behind it. Please also include your social media handles if you’re comfortable receiving a shout out! Click here to access the submission form.
- Deadline: All submissions must be received by 11:59 pm on April 25, 2025.
Judging Criteria:
- Relevance to Theme (25%): Does the video effectively answer the question, “What is the value of environmental education?”
- Creativity (25%): Is the video engaging, original, and thought-provoking?
- Clarity and Impact (25%): How clearly does the video convey the impact of environmental education?
- Overall Presentation (25%): Is the video polished, with good production quality (audio and visual)?
Prizes:
- First Prize: $100 Gift Certificate to the Outdoor Learning School & Store
- Second Prize: $50 Gift Certificate to REI or Sports Basement

All qualifying submissions will also be entered into a drawing to win an Individual AEOE Membership!
