Program Coordinator

Program Description: The Student Conservation Associations Desert Restoration Corps is a year round program with five project sites in the California desert. Interns serve 8 months from October to May, conducting off highway vehicle restoration on BLM land in Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC).

The Student Conservation Association (SCA), the nation’s leading conservation service organization for young people, is seeking a Program Coordinator for SCA’s Restoration Corps Program located in Yucca Valley, CA. The Program Coordinator will oversee all operational and administrative aspects of a number of teams located at various sites in the Mojave and Sonoran deserts of CA.

The Program Coordinator will oversee program development and implementation, evaluation, risk assessment and management, budget management and logistical coordination. Program Coordinator will also provide support and assistance to field staff on outreach projects, environmental education, intern management and agency relations.


Qualifications: Qualifications include: BA/BS in Environmental Education/Science or related field, or equivalent field experience, and 3 years of progressively responsible program management experience. Strong communications and computer skills, working knowledge of GIS/GPS. Willingness to travel. Current WFR and CPR certification. Valid drivers license and MVR that meets SCA's guidelines. Must pass SCA criminal background check.

Salary: $30,000 to $35,000 per year DOE
