Astrocamp,

Astrocamp teaches astronomy and space technology in the San Jacinto Mountains
near Idyllwild.
During
the sumer months, summer
camp programs are offered. We offer an active, hands-on, experientially
oriented program including lights and lasers, atmosphere and gases, gravity,
and a variety of evening programs. Astrocamp is located in the mountain
town of Idyllwild, on a former boarding school campus with 90 acres of
land, excellent teaching facilities including 10" computer-driven
Meade LX200s, great food, an awesome ropes course, and a large, enclosed,
state-of-the-art swimming pool. We love turning kids on to science with
hands-on experiential lessons. That's what we do! |

Pathfinder
Ranch, Mountain Center;

of both academic and recreational courses. We believe this combination
allows
for a broader learning base in both academic and social skills. As an Outdoor
Education program, we believe in utilizing our spectacular natural surroundings
to help build a sense of wonder and respect for the world around us. We
also provide unique and challenging experiences for students that allow
them to achieve success and build confidence and self-esteem. For schools
visiting at the beginning of the school year, Pathfinder provides a unique
opportunity for students and teachers to get to know one another and learn
to work as a cohesive team; Schools arriving later can use the ranch as
the exclamation point of the academic year, enhancing lessons already learned
in the classroom. |

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) Desert Restoration Corps; Yucca Valley; Steve Hester; Expiration 11/1/2008. Boojum Institute for Experiential Education creates programs specifically
designed to meet the goals of school outdoor education curriculums, disadvantaged
or at-risk youth organizations, challenge courses (ropes courses) focused
on teambuilding and leadership development , and retreats for organizations
who want to use a Southern California mountain setting for strategic planning,
organizational development, teambuilding, or leadership development events.

Camp Conrad-Chinnock/Diabetic Youth Services, Inc., Angelus Oaks: Tom Jenkins; Expiration 5/1/07. Seven thousand feet above the city lies Camp Conrad-Chinnock, a beautiful camp nestled among the tall pines of the Barton Flats Recreation Area within the San Bernardino National Forest. A recent major renovation included the installation of 13 winterized two-room cabins (three cabins are ADA compliant) with heavy-duty wood bunk beds, a front porch, and restroom. Site amenities include a conference center, game lodge, a full or self-service kitchen and dining hall, a pool, a 35-foot Activity Adventure Tower with a high rope element, a camp fire with stadium seating, and vast areas available for discussions. The site accomodates approximately 170 persons. |

Children’s Forest is to provide a place where (1) youth can
participate in stewardship, research, and education projects to develop
skills in communications, leadership, and problem solving, and (2)
youth and families can participate in programs to learn how to explore
a forest setting. Children’s Forest provides young people
with opportunities to participate in projects that integrate social,
economic, educational, and environmental dimensions in order to prepare
them to be the future stewards and decision makers for the earth’s
shared resources. Program areas include the Ecosystem
Management Program involves youth in actual management decisions
by allowing them to participate in research, planning and implementation
of resource management activities; the Education
Program offers exciting, guided field trips for all types of
groups; and the Visitor’s

Desert Discovery Center |
Desert Discovery Center, Barstow; Liana Sonne; Expiration 11/20/07. The Desert Discovery Center (DDC) is comprised of a unique partnership between the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Barstow Unified School District, Barstow Community College, Mojave River Valley Museum, City of Barstow, and Discovery Trails non-profit organization. The mission of the DDC is to develop and implement a comprehensive formal and informal education center with programs focusing on the natural, cultural, and historic resources associated with the Mojave Desert. Discovery Trails is a nonprofit, 501(c)3, organization dedicated to motivating students of all ages to participate and begin studies in the fields of geology, history, biology and anthropology. Our environmental programs are geared to attract even the least motivated student by joining the student's current interests and science together. This is done through our Desert Discovery Center, an interactive learning center, coupled with fieldtrips to locations in the Mojave Desert that will enhance the experience. Learning doesn't stop after visiting the Desert Discovery Center. After school, weekend programs and field trips are scheduled regularly to reinforce what has been learned. The Junior Naturalist Program at the Desert Discovery Center aims to excite children about the desert's unique ecosystem so as to increase stewardship of it and other natural resources. |

| Inside
the Outdoors (ITO) - Orange County Department of Education,
Orange County; Kelly Connell, Christie Pearce, and Sarah Fitzgerald; Expiration 12/12/07. OCDE has been
operating the Inside the Outdoors programs since 1974. ITO includes Traveling
Scientist school programs, which provide a hands-on oportunity for
students in grades preschool through twelfth grade to develop an awareness
and appreciation of the science concepts; Field
Programs, where students move out of the classroom and into the real
world of science and social science in each of the field programs. In
specially selected parks and preserved areas, students learn about the
natural and anthropological history of the area; and Outdoor
Science School, in operation since 1974, which offers four and five
day programs for fifth and sixth grade students at six sites in the San
Bernardino Mountains. The sites are adjacent to the San Bernardino National
Forest and provide a unique opportunity to study the natural environment.

forest. Study trails use the natural setting of the woodland community and

a study trail, in the cabin, in the dining hall, or around camp the staff
build their program based on experiences while learning together, living
