    Position: Part-time/Temporary Outdoor Education Program Leader 

    Location: Eastside College Preparatory, East Palo Alto and nearby parks

    Dates: Dates: July 13-15 and July 20-22 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
    Virtual evening training and organizational workshop of 2-3 hours will be arranged at mutually convenient time

    Compensation: $20/hr

    Position Overview:
    Eastside’s Outdoor Education Program gives students the opportunity to participate in outdoor educational adventures while also engaging in leadership and team-building activities that encourage personal growth and students to form close bonds.

    Outdoor leaders will work with small groups of 9th grade students taking a whole child approach to outdoor education focused on social emotional learning, ecology, environmental stewardship, and conservation activities. 

    Job Description:
    • Co-leaders will assist in the development of trail activities and curriculum to develop lessons that incorporate social emotional learning, team building, nature discovery and ecological and environmental stewardship. Drive vans of students to nearby parks to co-lead hikes and activities.
    • Support the development of positive group learning and team environment. Introduce team building opportunities to encourage positive communication, leadership and individual development.
    Qualifications
    • Previous teaching or facilitation experience with racially and socioeconomically diverse high school youth in an outdoor environment;
    • College degree in the field of science, education, outdoor recreation, or related field; Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable;
    • Positive and enthusiastic team player who can provide a safe, supportive, inclusive learning environment for all participants;
    • Valid driver’s license, clear fingerprints and background check, and negative TB test; Fully vaccinated;
    • First aid and/or WFA certification beneficial, but not required. 
    Compensation: $20/hour
