    Field Trip Programs Facilitators support the River Parkway Trust's education programs for school aged youth. Facilitators assist with classroom visits and river field trips that teach children about ecology, cultural history, and local wildlife.  The Trust provides educational experiences for local pre-K through 8th grade classrooms.  Trips focus on environmental education; all facilitators receive training on program activities, curriculum, and relevant NGSS standards.  Facilitators will report to the Director of Programs Administration and 1st-8th Grade Programs Manager.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Participate as an activity leader during field trips along the San Joaquin River.
    • Assist with the organization and maintenance of program materials and program storage areas.
    • Assist with programmatic administrative duties, such as communication and scheduling, as needed.
    • Work cooperatively with program volunteers.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

    Time Commitment

    • Field trips and classroom presentations are scheduled Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 am – 1 pm. Facilitators are expected to assist with at least one trip per week (a minimum of 5 hours/week). Depending on availability, facilitators may work up to 25 hours/week during busy months.
    • Wednesday/Friday availability preferred.
    • Duration: February – May 2024

    Qualifications

    • Enthusiasm and passion for working with youth.
    • Interest in outdoors and environmental education.
    • Ability to convey complex scientific topics to a variety of age groups.
    • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
    • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk over uneven terrain and lift up to 40 lbs.
    • Experience or interest in canoeing or kayaking a plus.
    • Must be 18 years old or a high school graduate.
    • Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination, DMV Report, and Livescan fingerprinting required contingent upon job offer.

    Facilitator positions begin at $16.50/hr.
