RANCH NATURALIST POSITIONS
Walker Creek Ranch is located in rural West Marin on 1700 acres of beautiful ranch land and is owned and operated by Marin County Office of Education. We offer residential environmental education programs tailored toward 5th and 6th grade students. The outdoor school is dedicated to providing equitable, inclusive, and high-quality educational experiences for teachers and students that inspire appreciation and stewardship of the natural world.
Responsibilities: Create a safe, equitable, and inclusive learning environment for students to have a positive outdoor experience. Plan and teach hands-on Environmental Science curriculum aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. Model and encourage environmentally responsible behavior. Applicants should be physically able to work long hours and participate in strenuous activity. Position requires flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team. Responsibilities also include working two evening programs a week.
Desired Qualifications: Experience teaching students environmental education curriculum. Demonstrated ability to engage and manage student groups in an outdoor setting. Course work and/or experience in Natural Sciences, Environmental Education, Interpretation, or Outdoor Recreation. Ability to speak a second language and/or play a musical instrument a plus. Experience in working with diverse populations highly desired.
Compensation: Starts at $22.57 per hour plus benefits. Seasonal lodging available.
Position Closes: Sunday, May 19th, 2024. Interviews tentatively scheduled for the week of May 28-31st.
Anticipated Start Date: September 3rd, 2024.
