Sierra Outdoor School

Sierra Outdoor School is located in the Stanislaus National Forest at an elevation of 4100 feet in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  The nearest towns are Sonora, Columbia, and Twain Harte. We are an outdoor education program located in the Sierra Nevada Foothills of California. We serve mostly elementary, and sometimes junior high and high school students from Central California. School groups of 4th-6th grade students come for 1-5 day residential outdoor education programs, focusing on environmental science, outdoor adventure, team building, and gold rush history. The surrounding mixed-conifer forest is our primary classroom. The giant sequoia forests, local caverns and Columbia Historic State Park also provide rich educational experiences.
