Details:

The San Diego County Office of Education is seeking individuals to join our team as a Outdoor Education Specialist Intern starting in December 2020 at the original 6th Grade Camp, Cuyamaca Outdoor School. The residential outdoor education program, in operation since 1946, is located an hour east of San Diego in the 25,000-acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, elevation 4,000 feet. We connect children to science through nature in a weeklong, hands-on outdoor education experience. Our Outdoor Education Specialist Interns are outgoing, hard-working, energetic, and have a genuine desire to make a positive difference in children’s lives.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of natural and environmental sciences
• Works effectively with students and adults in small and large group settings
• Experience working in a residential outdoor education or recreation program with school-age children
• Has a passion for teaching in and about the natural world
• Demonstrates a positive attitude, adaptable personality, strong work ethic, and likes to have fun

Position Details:

December 2020 start date; $14.00 starting hourly rate, plus free room and board. This is a six-month position with potential for full year employment and a raise to $20.94 per hour.
