The Community Engagement Division of Sonoma County Regional Parks is hiring two Park Program Assistants and a Park Program Assistant, fluent bilingual (English/Spanish).
Park Program Assistants (PPAs) support education/recreational outreach and other related support activities which enhance public services. They assist in the oversight of recreational facilities and visitor centers, deliver programming, provide program marketing and evaluation support, and serve as internship leads.
Ideal Park Program Assistant candidates will have:
Experience providing education to diverse audiences, and coordinating, implementing, and leading outdoor education and recreation programs
Experience marketing programs, creating presentations, and representing organizations at meetings
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and manage multiple priorities
An understanding of principles related to equity, diversity, inclusion, and authentic community engagement
A passion for parks
Currently the Community Engagement Division has positions in Education & Outreach and Recreation.
Education & Outreach - one English and one Bilingual (English & Spanish)
These PPAs support, develop, and deliver environmental education, outreach programs, and special events. They lead school field trip cultural and environmental education programs; host park volunteer work days and outreach tables at special events; develop public interpretive programs like wildflower and bird walks; and conduct whale watching and tide pool tours. Program activities may also include recreational activities like camping, backpacking, hiking, and/or kayaking.
Recreation - one English
This position supports the development and delivery of quality outdoor recreation programs, such as: hiking, fishing, biking, surfing, boating, open water swimming, art classes, backpacking, camping, orienteering, and fitness programs. This PPA helps strengthen health and wellness partnerships, and has a clear understanding of the health benefits our parks provide. The position also assists with the Spring Lake Water Park, special events, and aquatics summer programs.
Starting salary up to $28.27/hour ($59,002/year) plus a cash allowance of approximately $600/month. Bilingual premium pay is an additional $1.15/hour on top of the hourly pay rate.
