OUTDOOR EDUCATION SPECIALIST
Cuyamaca Outdoor School
The San Diego County Office of Education is seeking a highly motivated, caring professional to join our permeant staff as an Outdoor Education Specialist at the original 6th Grade Camp, Cuyamaca Outdoor School. The residential outdoor education program, in operation since 1946, is located an hour east of San Diego in the 25,000-acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, elevation 4,000 feet. We connect children to science through nature in a weeklong, hands-on outdoor education experience. The Outdoor Education Specialist’s are outgoing, hard-working, energetic, and have a genuine desire to make a positive difference in children’s lives.
Position and Compensation Details
September 2, 2022 start date; $21.56- $27.52 hourly rate, plus a full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, sick leave, pension, and more; 181 days, 10-month work calendar; meals provided during program; on-site housing available.
Located in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, one hour east of San Diego.

Qualifications:
· Knowledge of natural and environmental sciences
· Works effectively with students and adults in small and large group settings
· Experience working in a residential outdoor education or recreation program with school-age children
· Has a passion for teaching in and about the natural world
· Demonstrates a positive attitude, adaptable personality, strong work ethic, and likes to have fun
· Completion of college-level course work in natural sciences or other related topics
This position is an instructional position and places a strong emphasis on environmental education.
