Sky Mountain Outdoor Education Center (San Joaquin County Office of Education)

The Sky Mountain Outdoor Educational Center is a new residential camp in the Sierra Nevadas that sits right on Lake Valley Reservoir. Owned and operated by the San Joaquin County Office of Education, Sky Mounted is located in Emigrant Gap, CA and only 45 minutes from north Lake Tahoe. If you are looking for an opportunity to create a new experience to inspire students in outdoor education, then look no further. With snow in the winter months and a pristine mountain lake in the summer and fall, there are views to be enjoyed all year!

    Naturalist Apprentice:

Are you interested in the field of Outdoor Education or Environmental Education? Sky Mountain is for you! Naturalist Apprentices will be guided by Senior Naturalists and will teach classes, lead team building activities, and provide energy to the outdoor experience. Sky Mountain is a residential science camp that serves primarily 5th and 6th grade students. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds to live and work in community together and serve as role models and leaders for youth as they learn about themselves and their world. Includes paid training of Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED. Shared dorm-style housing is provided as well as meals during program.

We have 2 positions currently open to provide camp support (lifeguarding, canoeing, archery, etc) for guest groups during June and July. Our fall educational program begins with training August 1st for 8 positions. Contracts are from August through December with the ability to extend from January through May (snow months) for 4 positions. Work schedules range from 32-40/hours a week, with overtime opportunities. Salary $18/hour.
