NATURALIST INTERNSHIPS (5 openings)
Walker Creek Ranch is located in rural West Marin on 1700 acres of beautiful ranch land and is owned and operated by Marin County Office of Education. We offer residential environmental education programs tailored toward 5th and 6th grade students. The outdoor school is dedicated to providing equitable, inclusive, and high-quality educational experiences for teachers and students that inspire appreciation and stewardship of the natural world.
Overview: This is a ten-month paid internship in which Interns are responsible for leading hikes, teambuilding, and lessons for groups of approximately twenty students from a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. Interns receive paid training and continuing mentorship throughout the school year.
Responsibilities: Create a safe, equitable, and inclusive learning environment for students to have a positive outdoor experience. Lead activities in various habitats and teach hands-on Environmental Science curriculum. Position requires flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team. Responsibilities also include working two evening programs a week.
Desired Qualifications: Experience working with children. Interest in working with diverse populations and passion for working with youth outdoors. Experience in Natural Sciences, Environmental Education, Interpretation, or Outdoor Recreation a plus.
Compensation: $128/day (Based on 8-hour workday at $16/hr.). Room and board provided. Duration of internship: September 3rdh, 2024- June 6th, 2025.
