    Helios is an innovative, independent school community for gifted learners in grades K-8 based in Sunnyvale, CA. Our faculty members collaborate to create and continuously improve an exceptional program tailored to the needs of our gifted population. This program is distinctive in the way it weaves together interdisciplinary project based learning, placement-based mathematics, social emotional learning, opportunities for students to direct their own learning, and connection to issues in the wider world. The students camp overnight twice a year, and fieldwork is a crucial part of the students' experience.

They are experienced in progressive/ constructivist education and understand that the best education starts with the child.

    Helios is seeking a teacher for the 2024-2025 school year to join our lower school, teaching a combined class of first and second graders. Please submit a cover letter and resume in pdf to careers@heliosschool.org

    Salary: $80,000--$100,000 (Healthcare/retirement match)

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with a co-teacher to lead a combined class that fosters an environment where students feel supported to respect themselves, take intellectual risks, and develop respect and empathy for others 

    • Collaborate with a co-teacher to provide integrated multi-subject instruction

    • Lead a small Elementary, Middle School, or High School leveled math class 

    • Offer an elective on a topic that excites both you and the students 

    • Participate in our camping program, which includes overnight trips twice per year

    • Collaborate with administration and other grade-band teachers to continuously enhance and adapt our theme based expeditionary curriculum 


    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree required.

    • Advanced degree highly preferred.


    Experience

    • Experience working with children is required.

    • Two years or more of teaching experience is preferred.
