    Job location: Glen Ellen, CA

Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR), an innovative North Bay conservation science and education organization, is currently hiring a Communications Specialist. This is a part-time (.6 FTE, 22.5 hours per week) position with excellent benefits, based at Bouverie Preserve in Glen Ellen, Sonoma County, California. The starting hourly rate is $34.

Audubon Canyon Ranch (ACR) envisions a world where the diversity of live thrives and nature benefits all. Our Strategy for Resilience sets an ambitious 5-year roadmap for landscape-scale stewardship that engages and empowers diverse voices in a more equitable approach. To be successful, we must attract and support a broad community of collaborators.

The Communications Specialist plays an important role in our strategy by bringing the stories of the field — for example, tracking mountain lions, using prescribed fire to boost biodiversity, giving a voice to youth who are yearning to improve their world — to life through the lens of our values of heart, boldness, and impact; and sharing these stories across our owned media: social, web, and email. The Communications Specialist may join other staff in the field to capture images, reflections, and learnings and may also draw from imagery and experiences provided by others. Using a warm and informative tone that centers learning and collaboration, the Communications Specialist helps prompt action. Understanding that landscape-scale stewardship requires more people with diverse world views and skillsets, the Communications Specialist also highlights the work of partners and acknowledges traditionally sidelined perspectives. The work of the Communications Specialist supports additional longer-length reporting throughout the communications and development activities of the organization.

The ideal individual is curious, experimental, enjoys working on-site within a team, and is comfortable following a story into the field, capturing, and sharing it.
