What You Will Do:
Coastal Camp is a summer day camp located in the Marin Headlands. Coastal Camp offers educational, environmental science programs for youth grades K-12, with the majority of campers in early elementary school. As the Camp Director, you will be responsible for all aspects of the planning, supervision, and implementation of Coastal Camp. This includes planning the program content, hiring and training camp admin and staff, optimizing operational logistics, and expanding Coastal Camp’s equitable outreach and enrollment efforts.
This position takes place at our Golden Gate Campus in the Marin Headlands and cannot be performed remotely. The ideal start date is part-time in mid October and full-time by November.
Your primary job will be to:

Lead strategic planning: Oversee development and improvement of camp.

Hire, train, and oversee camp staff: Directly supervise the seasonal camp administration team: Camp Office Coordinator, Camp Field Coordinator, Education Managers, Operations Manager, and 3-5 Educators. Lead the hiring process of 30-40 seasonal educators, counselors, and admin staff.

Serve as a member of the Golden Gate campus leadership team: Collaborate with all departments and directors to provide a seamless transition between year round programs and summer camp programs.

Oversee camp content & curriculum.

Manage and maintain vendor relationships

Facilitate operations of Coastal Camp: Collaborate with Operations, Conference, Facilities, and Kitchen department leads to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

Participate in outreach and enrollment efforts: Collaborate in the marketing of programs with the national marketing team to develop content for camp promotions and print materials. Represent and promote NatureBridge programs at community fairs and open house events.
Compensation:

$65,000-70,000 annual salary

Who You Are:
We are looking for candidates who have:

2+ years of experience in the summer camp or experiential education industry.

3+ years of management or supervisory experience.
-
Enthusiasm and passion for directing summer camp programs for youth.

Strong strategic planning skills; Ability to prioritize tasks and plan ahead effectively.

Excellent customer service skills.

Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Solutions-oriented mindset.

Ability to maintain composure under pressure

Ability to collaborate with a diverse team and across departments with conflicting priorities

Knowledge in science, social-emotional learning, and youth development; Experience in designing scientific thematic program curricula for young learners.

Experience with facilitating equity, diversity, and inclusion training.

Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in the workplace. Highly organized with keen attention to detail.

Proficiency in hiring, recruiting, training, and retaining staff.

Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certifications before starting employment.

Valid California Driver's License.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, which can include training, academic courses, and work in the summer camp or experiential education industry.
