    Join Call of the Sea this summer for a paid internship opportunity! Call of the Sea is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) based in the heart of Sausalito. We are dedicated to providing inclusive, equitable access to hands-on, water-based science education. Our mission is to foster a deep connection to the environment and empower students to become lifelong advocates for the ocean. 

    This summer, we’re hosting an exciting summer camp program. From marine science exploration to navigating the San Francisco Bay - campers will engage in activities that ignite curiosity, build confidence, and deepen their relationship with the water.     Requirements: 

    • Experience working with students (ages 8-13 preferred) 

    • Be available for all camp dates and two required training dates which you will be compensated for (see dates below)

    • Current enrolled student or recent graduate - college level preferred 


    Qualifications: 

    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

    • Strong leadership skills

    • Time management skills

    • Strong problem-solving skills

    • Customer service and communication skills

    • Passionate about marine science and sustainability 

    • Team-oriented

    • Willingness to work hard and follow instructions

    • Excitement and eagerness to learn

    • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain prior to start of camp 

    • Lifeguard certification preferred 

    • Spanish language skills preferred


    Position Description: 

    As a Lead Camp Counselor you will help create unforgettable experiences for campers ages 8-13. The Lead Camp Counselor will establish ground rules of camp, monitor safety and fun of campers, and help in teaching, facilitating, and engaging in camp activities. This is an exciting opportunity for those passionate about outdoor education, working with students, marine conservation, and sailing. 

    They will work collaboratively with camp counselors to organize and deliver activities, troubleshoot any issues and maintain a fun camp experience. They will also work closely with the Camp Director in developing and implementing camp lesson plans, scheduling, progression of camper’s learning, and behavior management. 

    Camps are week-long day programs from Monday through Friday. Camp counselors start their days at 8am and end at 4:30PM.

    The Lead Camp Counselor MUST be available and attend all of the camp program weeks AND camp training dates. We encourage those who have full or majority availability to apply.

    • Camp Training dates: June 13th - June 14th

    • Camp Week One: June 16th - 20th 

    • Camp Week Two: June 23rd - 27th 

    • Camp Week Three: July 28th - August 1st 

    • Camp Week Four: August 4th - 8th 

    • Camp Week Five: August 11th - August 15th


    Primary Responsibilities: 

    • Program leadership and facilitation 

    • Supervise and mentor camp counselors  

    • Create a positive and energetic camp environment 

    • Time management of daily schedules 

    • Encourage teamwork and cooperation

    • Assist with daily camp operations including enforcing camp rules and regulations

    • Ensure camper safety at all times


    This internship is contingent upon the successful completion of a Live Scan background check. In addition, new applicants must complete Mandated Reporter Training as a part of their onboarding.

    Interns may be eligible to receive school credit or educational credits for their participation, depending on their institution’s policies and requirements. We encourage applicants to consult with their academic advisor or internship coordinator to confirm eligibility.
