    Approximately 1 hour from San Francisco and 45 minutes from Santa Cruz

    Position Details:

    Head of Program (HoP) – Full-time, year-round, exempt (salaried) leadership position at Vida Verde Nature Education. The HoP is responsible for planning, managing, and operating 30–32 weeks of inspiring, free, overnight outdoor education programming for 4th–6th grade students from low-income Bay Area schools.

    This position leads a team of 4–5 instructors and oversees program operations, staff development, and student experience. Work is done entirely on-site, with time spent outdoors, in meetings, and on administrative tasks. The HoP collaborates closely with other leadership team members, contributes to organization-wide initiatives like fundraising and risk management, and helps uphold a strong and supportive team culture.

    Desired start date: Summer 2025 (as early as July 1). A minimum 3-year commitment is expected.

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Salary: $50,000–$62,000/year (depending on experience)

    • On-site housing valued at $12,000/year included (private bedroom; shared common spaces)

    • Total compensation package: approx. $62,000–$74,000/year

    • Benefits include:

      • 3 weeks of paid vacation + 5 holidays (most taken during summer, winter, and spring breaks)

      • $200/month contribution toward health, dental & vision insurance

      • Up to 5% retirement match after 9 months
