Evening Cook at Camp Rancho Alegre
Position Overview
Camp Rancho Alegre is looking for an Evenings and Weekends Cook to join our team. The cook’s role is to provide quality and nutritional meals for Camp Rancho Alegre guests.
This position is responsible for cooking and preparing food using standard recipes and production guidelines while following food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. The individual in this role should safely handle knives and equipment including grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, etc.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Cook and prepare food following production guidelines and standardized recipes and other job-related duties as assigned.
- Set up workstation with the necessary ingredients and equipme
- Prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chipping, trimming, and peeling food items.
- Safely use all food preparation equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, and knives.
- Manage multiple concurrent tasks
- Properly store food by following food safety policies and procedures.
- Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Maintains professional demeanor when working with a variety of people. Including, but not limited to, coworkers, guests, youth, and volunteers.
- Ability to work as part of a team, coordinating tasks to assemble balanced meals
- Maintain calm attitude in moments of stress
- Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle uncomfortable environments
- Willing to learn and assist other departments as needed. Includes housekeeping, groundskeeping, facility maintenance, and program.
- Engage kindly and positively with youth
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Competencies:
Knowledge of: The basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage.
Skill in: Proficient in all aspects of food preparation; utilizing equipment and tools that pertain to food service; interpreting menus and recipes; adjusting ingredients based on taste; basic math and counting; effective written and verbal interpersonal and communication.
Ability to: work independently with limited supervision; determine and select proper foods and supplies for each meal based on quantities ordered and budget; organize time for execution of meals.
Education
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Qualifications
- · One year of experience as a cook or related role.
- · A Food Handler’s certificate must be obtained within seven days of entry into position.
- · Must pass a criminal history background check.
Compensation
$17.00 per hour. A two-bedroom house is available to be lived in during employment (additional housing agreement required)
