Walker Creek Ranch is an outdoor education and conference center nestled in the hills along the pacific coast just north of San Francisco, California. The ranch is 5 miles from scenic Tomales Bay, 15 miles from the historic town of Petaluma, and a 1hour drive from the Golden Gate Bridge. Summer employment revolves around lifeguarding at our pond, supporting in the dining hall, cleaning, building campfires, and much more. Room and board are available for committed seasonal staff. Come join our wonderful team and enjoy a summer in coastal Marin County, California.

Lifeguarding and Conference Center Shifts in West Marin (Summer 2026)

Positions available at Marin County Office of Education’s Walker Creek Ranch, a west Marin Outdoor Education and Conference Center located about 30 minutes west of Petaluma. Shifts begin June 7th and continue through August 6th, 2026.

Lifeguard* ($26.07/hour) supports the conference center and hospitality services by overseeing waterfront activities at our 4-acre pond. A current American Red Cross Lifeguard certificate is required (additional waterfront certification and/or WFR a plus). Reimbursement for lifeguard recertification and/or training may be available. The first day of training will take place on June 7th and lifeguard training is scheduled for June 8-11th.

Conference Helper* ($22.52/hour) supports the conference center and hospitality services by supporting in the dining hall during mealtimes, setting up, cleaning, and breaking down lodging and meeting rooms, and working with conference guests. The first day of training will take place on June 7th.

*It is typical to work in both capacities throughout the summer. Ideally, all summer seasonal staff are lifeguard certified.

**Room and board may be available for those interested in consistent summer employment. Our kitchen prepares meals for guest groups. Summer staff have access to food post meal service as well as leftovers. Lodging for seasonal summer staff is a private room in a lodge. There are bathrooms, a kitchen, laundry machines, and dinning/living room. Wi-Fi and utilities are included.
