Environmental Education Instructor: Catalina Environmental Leadership Program

Position Details:
CELP is an environmental education program for students in 4th-12th grade. Our remote location on the west end of Catalina Island allows us to teach lessons on ecology and sustainability while snorkeling in the kelp forest, kayaking, hiking, teambuilding and gardening. CELP is a partnership between Catalina Island Camps and Jean Michel Cousteau's Ocean Future's Society.
We are looking for qualified staff to lead groups of 10-15 students on week-long environmental education programs. CELP activities include day & night snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, ropes course, microscope lab, gardening, composting, campfires, astronomy, art in nature, tide-pooling and sustainable living lessons. Responsibilities include lesson planning, preparing program areas, leading day & evening activities and attending staff meetings. CELP instructors live and work on site at camp for the duration of the season.
CELP instructors must have a Bachelor's degree in a Natural or Environmental Science or related field or significant experience in education and camps. Instructors must possess strong water skills, a commitment to environmental stewardship, and the ability to work with staff and students of all ages. We are currently hiring for the Spring 2024 Season, February 9 – May 24, 2024.
Compensation is $100/day plus room & board.
