    Who We Are:

    NatureBridge provides environmental science education experiences for more than 30,000 students and their teachers every year in the world’s best classrooms: our National Parks.     What You Will Do:

    As the Education Manager, you will coordinate the supervision, support, training and coaching of Environmental Science Educators in curriculum, pedagogy, risk management and program logistics at our campus in Yosemite National Park. You will work with other NatureBridge campuses and other members of the Yosemite administrative team. Together, this team is responsible for managing the education staff, overseeing systems and supporting the day-to-day operation of Yosemite NatureBridge education programs. 

    This job requires regular attendance on campus in Yosemite Valley, and cannot be performed remotely.

    Your primary job will be to:

    • Supervise up to 15 educators as direct reports, and provide coaching, training, and conflict management; use our internally-developed coaching program to observe and provide focused feedback to educators

    • Support staff development and curriculum design, and stay informed on Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and topics such as inquiry-based learning, diversity and equity, and responsible environmental behavior

    • Foster a positive and inclusive work community culture, and establish supportive relationships with staff, volunteers, and participants.

    • Use the lens of our Equity, Inclusion & Diversity framework to drive personal, professional, and departmental goals

    • Collaborate and share responsibilities with other leaders on the Yosemite Education Team, taking lead on one of the following subject areas: Science, Stewardship, Training / Special Projects, Hiring / Social-Emotional Learning

    • Work with other departments to support risk management, facilities use, payroll, and educator housing

    • Manage daily programs from our Yosemite Valley base of operations, act as the Day Manager and the rotating Manager on Call during programs, and support NatureBridge emergency response in the field

    • Monitor and respond to participant and staff feedback

    • Work effectively with leaders from the National Park Service, park partners, schools, and community partners.

    • Substitute for educators in the field

    • Work with the hiring team and Human Resources to support hiring new Educators on a seasonal basis


    Compensation:

    • $52,000 - $54,000 annual salary

    • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

    Who You Are:

    We are looking for applicants who have:

    • Experience supervising, coaching, and providing feedback to educators or peers in a professional setting

    • Expertise in experiential learning, thematic teaching, and curriculum development 

    • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in education, and creating positive community work culture. We especially encourage you to apply if you have lived experience as a member of (or extensive experience working with) any communities that are impacted by the historic and current system of oppression that has limited access to environmental education, or the outdoors in general.

    • At least three years of programming experience in outdoor/environmental/science education; familiarity using environmental science monitoring and measurement tools

    • Knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards, trends in community science, BEETLES frameworks and their integration into educational programming

    • Strong organizational skills and efficient project and time management

    • Ability to effectively communicate information and present with confidence in front of a variety of audiences, including students, teachers, board members, staff and the general public

    • Ability to manage and support teams, prioritizing relationship-building and professional integrity

    • Ability to implement and model effective risk management practices

    • Ability to approach self and others with a growth mindset

    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

    • Valid Wilderness First Responder and CPR certificate or ability to obtain prior to starting the position
